We are a thriving medium-sized, second generation family business led by Christoph Kast, a graduate in business studies and son of the company’s founder Dr. Günther Kast.
KAST is one of the foremost manufacturers of technical textiles and industry leader for bookbinding materials based in Sonthofen, the southernmost city in Germany. The company’s success reflects in the supply and export of a wide range of products into almost eighty countries worldwide for nearly six decades.

KAST produces and develops technical textiles made of Glass, AR-Glass, Carbon, Aramid, Basalt, Cotton and Viscose among other fibers for a variety of applications.
The production of composites, special textile finishing, coating (e.g. rubber coating), imprinting, dyeing and manufacturing is always in compliance to specific customer requirements.
We are able to manufacture products for a wide variety of industrial areas and applications that fit all of your technical textile needs.

1961
Foundation of the company by Dr. Günther Kast.
Immediate start of production, including the manufacture of Back Lining Paper for the bookbinding industry and Grosgrain Fabric for the garment industry.
Wrapping Cloths for use in dry cell batteries as well as woven self-adhesive Scrim Tape for plaster board constructions were manufactured using gauze.
1972 – 1990
Development of sales and marketing for plaster reinforcement glass grids and construction of a special finishing line for the manufacturing of technical textiles.
1994
Christoph Kast, MBA joins the company´s management board.
1995
Acquisition of Tolnatext Bt, a long-standing Hungarian glass fabric supplier. This decision strengthened KAST’s position in the glass fiber sector all across Europe significantly.
1998
Our special paper lined mull for industrial bookbinding was patented.
2002
Completion of acquiring mobile fixed and current assets from the Leuze & Rilling Corporation in Wannweil.
A new company site on Fluhensteinweg in Sonthofen expanded the Kast Corporation even further.
2005
Purchase of a production line from a long-standing Swedish supplier. Product range development was implemented especially in the segment of drywall construction.
2007
Acquisition of a long-standing South German partner company. This accession complemented the graphical arts industry’s performance in the finishing and coating sector.
2016
Inauguration of our logistics center at our Hungarian subsidiary on the newly acquired company site in Tolna.
2017
Kastgroup reaches the milestone of 50 million square meters (≈ 59,800,000 yd²) in annual sales volume.
2020
Foundation of Kast Technical Textiles USA.
Start-up of the company’s own hydropower plant for sustainable electricity.
2021
60th anniversary of the Kast Corporation.
2022
Construction of a further energy-optimized production hall and start-up of several new plants for the production of technical textiles at the subsidiary in Tolna/Hungary.
